The Monte Bondone ski area is
found just 10 kilometers from the Brennero highway exit, and is
a popular tourist area due to its easy to reach location and its
ski runs accessible through an excellent lift system. There are
six lifts, all of them chairlifts.
The runs can be used for various winter sports: both downhill
skiing and snowboarding. There is also a snow park exclusively
for snowboarders.
For lovers of cross-country skiing there are also runs in the
center of the base of the Viotes, which offers a series of
circular paths. These runs play out along 35 kilometers of
skiable terrain in an enchanting landscape. They also are the
perfect place for snowshoeing.
On one side, Monte Bondone rises steeply and sharply, going from
2,090 meters at the Palon peak. On the other, it descends more
gently, creating a natural terrace over Lake Garda.
At 1,500 meters guests find the splendid plateau of the Viotes,
a protected biotope and natural valley. The mossy coniferous
area contains the Alpine Botanical Garden with its Research
Center and a thousand varieties of flowers and plants from all
over Europe.
On high, Monte Cornetto dominates at 2,180 meters, along with
Doss d’Abramo at 2,140 meters, and Cima Verde (the Green Peak)
at 2,102 meters. These make up the protected and popular
excursion area known as "Tre Cime" (the Three Peaks).
Monte Bondone is not just for the winter and skiing – it’s
appropriate for all sports-lovers. Here they can choose from
various activities even in the summer: from trekking to mountain
biking to Nordic walking! In fact, there is an annual
competition for these sports which in 2010 will take place at
the beginning of August.
